etrailer Trailer Brake Controller 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit Installation - 2011 Chrysler Town and Country- Video

etrailer Trailer Brake Controller 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit Installation - 2011 Chrysler Town and Country

Ryan: Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2011 Chrysler Town and Country, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the ETBC7L, which will give us a seven-way as well as a four-way flat trailer connector. So this kits pretty unique. It's actually particularly designed for those alternative style brake controllers. For example, the Tekonsha RF, or like what I have here today, the Curt Echo. So since these alternative style brake controllers only require a 12 volt auxiliary power, that's all we're going to have to run here to our seven-way, with the exception of our normal lighting functions. That way, we don't have to worry about running unnecessary wires, finding our Town and Country's factory brake light switch and dealing with tapping it in, and not to mention, bolting up with traditional style brake controller to our dashboard. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2008 Chrysler Aspen 90885- Video

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2008 Chrysler Aspen 90885

Audio: Today, on this 2008 Chrysler Aspen, we're going to install a brake controller, part# 90885. This is Prodigy P2 brake controller. To help install this brake controller, we're also going to use part# ETBC7. We're going to start with that part number first. Starting at the back of the vehicle, we're going to install the 7-pole bracket that comes with the kit. We're going to mount it to the bumper on the right side of the hitch. Due to the way the 7-pole connector is manufactured with the 4-pole on the side, we'll have a little more working room if we mount it on that side. We're going to go ahead and hold our bracket up to the bumper structure. We'll mark and drill our holes, and then, we'll go ahead and install some self-tapping screws. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2009 Chrysler Aspen- Video

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2009 Chrysler Aspen

Today on this 2009 Chrysler Aspen we are going to install part number 90885, the Prodigy P2 brake controller. We are also going to use the install kit, part number ETBC7. The first thing we are going to do is install the bracket for the ETBC7 kit. We are going to install it right next to the hitch. And we are actually going to mount the bracket backwards so we can hide the connector a little bit behind the plastic on the bumper cover. The next step is to go ahead and do some partial assembly on the 7-pole itself. What we will do is we will go ahead and add the gray cable and we will hook it up to our 7-pole connector. What we are going to do is actually just wind this up with electric tape and leave our leads out that we need. We will leave our 4-pole sticking out and we are going to need our brake wire which is going to be blue and our black wire for 12 volt power supply. And then we will just wrap up our purple and white wires. Our white wire is going to go directly to the frame for ground. And then the purple wire is going to be for reverse lights, if it is ever needed. 1:01 more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2007 Chrysler 300- Video

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2007 Chrysler 300

Today we are going to be installing Prodigy part number 90185 on a 2007 Chrysler 300. We are also going to be using the brake control wiring kit, part number ETBC7. What we are going to do is go ahead and locate a good position to mount the brake controller. We are inside the cab here, directly below the steering wheel. A good mounting location for the brake controller is typically right to the right of the steering wheel so it is within hands reach of making your adjustments. But before we go ahead and mount it I want to go ahead and locate the brake wire underneath the steering column, right above the brake pedal. This is a wire that we are going to need to tap into which is going to activate the brake controller for us. It is actually located on the brake switch and we are going to look for the wire that actually gets hot when we depress the brake pedal. There is a carpeting piece underneath here that is covering up all the wiring that is above the brake pedal. So the first thing I am going to do is to go ahead and remove that. There are two push pins: one here, and one here, that I need to remove. OK, now that we have got the carpeted piece up and out of the way, we have gone ahead and located the brake switch, which is that white box right there at the top of the brake pedal. If you follow behind that, you will locate the wiring harness that is feeding the brake switch. I went ahead and tested them and I found that the green wire with the white stripe is the wire that we are looking for that is the cold side of the brake switch - the wire that we are looking to tap into with the red wire on the brake controller. So we are going to go ahead and do that now, and then I think we will go ahead and mount the brake controller. more
